Microsoft and Brookfield’s 10.5GW deal UNPACKED

Microsoft and Brookfield Asset Management have signed a groundbreaking $10 billion global framework agreement to develop over 10.5 GW of new renewable energy capacity between 2026 and 2030. This landmark deal, the largest corporate clean energy purchase agreement ever, will initially focus on wind and solar projects in the U.S. and Europe, with potential expansion to other regions. The collaboration contributes to Microsoft’s ambitious goal of matching 100% of its electricity consumption with zero carbon energy purchases by 2030. As the rapid growth of AI technologies and data centers drives increased demand for reliable, clean power, this agreement seeks to accelerate the decarbonization of the grid and the global shift to renewable energy solutions within the cloud industry.
